The dark rain clouds parted and sunlight streamed through as guests and competitors gathered at Wesley Clover Parks for the Spurs & Sparkles Gala Monday, Aug. 19. The unique charity event raised over $100,000 for the Queensway Carleton Hospital.
Highlighting the evening was the crowd-pleasing Get Up & Gallop competition, where 10 teams of local business leaders, a local celebrity, and an internationally awarded equestrian rider joined forces. In the three-part event featuring a jump-off, a curling challenge and a golf cart speed course, reigning champions Team Terlin defended their title as the famous Top Gun soundtrack tune, Danger Zone, played over the speakers.

Both women?underscored how vital the funds raised are in supporting the hospital’s ability to provide exceptional care to the people who rely on it each year. They also praised the community’s generosity, which made the evening a resounding success.
As the sun set over the grounds, it was clear that Spurs & Sparkles had once again delivered an unforgettable experience for a worthy cause.
